Job Description:

Stanley Consultants is currently hiring for a Senior Structural Engineer for our Des Moines office. This position provides both technical expertise and successful project delivery for the design of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and earth retaining structures. Projects may also include bridge inspection/evaluation and structural evaluation and rehabilitation for existing structures.Essential duties include:Leads the design of transportation structures such as bridges and culvertsLeads and/or assist with delivering successful bridge projects throughout the project delivery process including design, review, and quality control effortPrepares structural reports, cost estimates, and calculationsDevelops reports, specifications, drawings, and related documents to meet client requirementsAssists in the preparation of construction schedules and planning studies for projectsAssists with field reviews of existing structures and project sites for proposed new projectsEvaluates the need for design changes and communicates appropriate recommendations to project manager or clientsServes as a technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within discipline areasAssists in client development activities by preparing pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projectsConsults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activitiesProvides technical support and visiting construction sites in support of construction activities and post design servicesMentors structural staff in technical design, modeling, and analyzing structural componentsAssists other Stanley Consultants offices with delivery projectsDevelops a network of contacts within Stanley Consultants to establish a two-way sharing of knowledgeRequirements:BS in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering; MS in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering is preferred, but not requiredMust possess at least 8 - 15 years of relevant experienceMust possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license; Iowa PE desiredRequires significant experience preparing planning and final bridge design contract documents for state and local departments of transportationFamiliarity with bridge inspections and preparation of inspection documentation is preferred, but not requiredBridge design experience on projects within the state of Iowa; experience on Iowa Department of Transportation projects a big plusBase Compensation: $115,000 - $150,000Stanley Consultants is committed to maintaining transparency in our hiring process, including providing information about compensation.
