Do not make the mistake of addressing your cover letter by ‘Dear Manager'. A smart jobseeker will always try to address the letter to a real person. Therefore, it is important to do some research and try to know the person who you should address the cover letter to. By addressing the letter to a person by name, you grab their instantly.

 

Write an opening sentence that grabs attention instantly
The next important point you need to keep in mind while writing the cover letter is that you open it with attention grabbing sentence. The opening line will always play an important role in ensuring whether the reader wants to read the remaining part of the cover letter or not. If you really want the reader to have a closer look at your cover letter and your resume, you need to open it with a first sentence which is powerful enough to grab their attention instantly.

 

Keep the cover letter precise, short and sweet

Give the employer a call to action
To make your cover letter highly effective, you need to write it in a way that it becomes a call to action for the employer. What action do you want the employer to take? You need to really ask the employer what you want. Make a direct request to the employer by asking them - ‘I would really like to have the opportunity for a personal interview this week'. This is a call to action for the employer. At the same time, it also shows your passion for working with the employer.

 

Write enthusiastic concluding lines
Like the effective opening lines, the concluding lines should also be enthusiastic. In the concluding lines, you need to mention that you are really looking forward to getting interviewed at the earliest. Thank the employer in advance for providing you with this opportunity.
