The field of marine biology is as vast as the ocean itself. The career opportunities are too many as well. You can choose a career or a position in the field of marine biology depending on the degree or education you possess in the same stream. With a doctorate in marine biology, you can decide to become a teacher or a professor at educational institutions. A doctoral degree in marine biology also makes you eligible for becoming a chief research scientist. With a master's degree in marine biology, you can apply for a teaching job at a high school or join an aquarium. A good academic background with research under a much acclaimed professor would give an extra edge over others. Becoming a lab technician is yet another career option for those educated in marine biology. A master's degree would be required to become a lab technician too.

 

Salaries Offered

In addition to studying a fascinating marine life, you can also earn a handsome salary as marine biology professional. If you join as an assistant professor at a university, you can earn an impressive salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 annually. Summer salaries will be an added advantage. For full professors, the salary range can be as high as $65,000 to $90,000.
