If you want to be successful, you need to be well prepared to grab an opportunity as soon as it arises. That means you need to identify an opportunity before you actually lose it. Of course, a lot of us must have made mistakes when we just lost an opportunity because we were unable to identify it at the right time.

Many times, we are not ready to make a move only because we have some career fears. Even if you have a look at some of the examples around, you will know what it takes to move onto a new job in your career. There are various examples where employees accepted a new job and left their current company. They went on to making the most of their opportunities and it contributed towards their overall career growth. On the other hand, there were others who were just too confused to move on.

Recognizing an Opportunity
If you really want to enable yourself to recognize an opportunity, you should have your goals clear in mind - both long term and short term. Rather than looking at the short term satisfaction, candidates should focus on long term benefits when a career opportunity knocks the door. To be able to identify and grab an opportunity, you should take the following into consideration.

Your Talents, Aptitude and Skills
Your Work Passions
Your Career Interests
Your Career Goals
Your Work-Life Balance

If you are well aware of your talents and work passions, you can easily decide when a relevant career opportunity comes your way. There are several career aptitude tests available online to help you become well informed of your talents and skills. Before you make a move, think whether this move will satisfy your career interests. It is certainly a great career opportunity if it takes you closer to your professional goals.

Work and life balance is another important issue than you need to consider while identifying potential career opportunities. It is a great opportunity if it makes your work and life more balanced than it was in your previous job. If you consider all the above mentioned issues carefully, you will easily recognize opportunities when they arise along your career path.

Finding Opportunities
There's no doubt that there are plenty of opportunities all around us. All we need to do is find them and be prepared to take advantage of them. We can also have access to several career tools to help us in our pursuit of career success. Thanks to the availability of internet and the exponential growth in the number of internet users, it has opened doors to plenty of jobs that you do online. There are great home-based work opportunities that you can benefit from.

If you are internet savvy, you will be able to find multiple career opportunities on the internet. More and more people are getting self employed or starting their own home-based business. Depending on your skill sets, interests and industry knowledge, you too can avail of such work from home opportunities and earn a decent pay.

This must be said again: there are great career opportunities all around us. If you want to find them, continue to expand your network of professional contacts. Also keep your family and friends in the loop. Establish good relationships with your peers, senior managers and bosses. And continue with your online research.
