Position Overview: The Payroll Administrator serves as the initial HR point of contact for payroll-related matters. The Payroll Administrator provides substantive and specialized support to the Human Resources Office by carrying out functions related to payroll, HR compliance and annual reporting, personnel issues, policies, and procedures. Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience.) Qualifications: The successful applicant for this position will have: Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience. Professional certification is a plus. 3 years of professional experience in an office environment or secondary school responsible for bookkeeping, payroll, or other related HR administrative duties.  Previous payroll software experience a plus. Strong organizational skills. Attention to detail. General math skills. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite specifically in: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and basic understanding of updating intranet content. Experience with Paylocity HRIS a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Organized and capable of handling many different tasks in an efficient manner. Flexibility in adapting to the growing and changing needs of the organization. High energy, positive, professional attitude, pride in work product. Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Experience working in an urban school with diverse families. Commitment to keeping current on best practices in technology and general education. Innovative and resourceful; actively seeks opportunities to improve processes and procedures.   Experience in several of the functional program areas of Human Resources (e.g., payroll and HRIS), high volume"¯(280+ staff members), and fast paced environments is highly desired.  Essential Responsibilities: Gather time entries, review timecards for accuracy, and other pay related additional information. Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary. Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, deductions, and job title and department/division transfers. Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, and interacting with other company departments. Provides support to employees by answering pay and HR questions and requests. Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes. Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.  Ensuring employee submission of payroll-related leave requests, personnel action, etc.   Auditing reports for accuracy and compliance and completing payroll reconciliation.   Ensuring requests for personnel actions are tracked appropriately to include aiding with the maintenance of various HR reports and job aids.   Researching, compiling, and organizing information and data to prepare periodic statistics and recurring personnel action status reports.   Implementing new or revised policies and procedures designed to improve the effectiveness of the way personnel services are provided to the agency.   Continuously researches pertinent personnel administration rules, regulations, and procedures (District and Federal), disseminating information on new or revised administrative policies to other members of the team and the HR Director.    Promote and support the Organizational and HR strategies in a fast paced, rapidly growing organization. Assist with investigations and documentation in accordance with company policies and best practices. Advise, counsel, and update managers, supervisors, and employees on company policies, practices, procedures, benefits, and wages Lead and participate in HR projects as needed, including cross-functional and business initiatives Participate in the Start of School Year and Staff Orientation process as needed. Other duties as assigned.
