Within this position, an ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing our packaging portfolio, identifying total cost optimization measure and execute both short and long-term cost savings plan.Your ChallengeDevelop world-class capabilities and provide a competitive advantage to LS&E, through packaging design and project management.Develop and execute a LS&E relevant packaging category strategy in close alignment with and consistent to the strategic approach of the Regional Material Group Managers.Leverage the scale and competencies of Mann + Hummel's regional and global procurement organization.Optimize the total cost of packaging by pulling various commercial and technical levers such as:Running RFIs and RFQsBenchmarking and NegotiationContract ManagementSupplier panel rationalizationSpecification standardization and or optimizationValue Analysis and Value EngineeringShould Costing, Target Costing, Clean Sheet AnalysisDrive improvement project in the packaging portfolio, with focus on short and long-term savings. Develop business case for potential changes in packaging (e.g., returnable, freight studies, container investment, and warehouse space investment). Work closely with operations, logistics and product management to optimize packaging spend.Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.Work with vendors and internal stakeholder to collect packaging data for review. Provide category codes for packaging through internal database with dimension measurement and other parameters. Lead cost calculation for current and new program.Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing. Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs that are optimized for manufacturability and exceed customer specifications.Develop and execute/implement (in close cooperation with Quality, Operations, Logistics) a regional packaging manual for in-bound, out-bound and spares packaging in order to optimize the total cost ownership of our packaging spend.Select packaging suppliers/vendors. Work closely with Engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.Governance & Compliance: Conduct weekly review of open packaging topics. Ensure compliance to quality and regulatory requirement. Lead evaluation at locations and/or external testing facility to ensure environmental and safety criteria are fulfilled.Sustainability: Develop packaging solutions that enable us to deliver on our Circular economy goalsYour ProfileThree to five years or equivalent of work experiences in the area of packaging engineering, packaging standardization and cost optimisation, with track record in identifying and implementing cost savings projectsBachelor's Degree in in Engineering or Scientific field; preferably mechanical or packaging engineeringGood computer skills in usage of MS Office SuiteKnowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.), drafting and specification standards is essential.CAD experience is preferredProfessional fluency in English.Previous work experience in similar industry is preferred (e.g, consumer durables / white goods)Ability to lead cross functional teams, projects and interact seamlessly across all organiaztional levelsProven track record in leading Regional projects and working in a global, matrix environmentGood understanding of and experience in Lean Manufacturing, KaizenStrong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skillsAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to travel up to 40%Are you full of ideas?
