Job Description:

The Engineering Manager, Standard Solutions is a newly created position leading the execution team of JLS's standard solution business. While executing projects in Standard Solutions, this position works closely with Product Engineers to develop the standards and processes supporting the standardization efforts. This position will also communicate regularly with Product Directors refining processes to ensure a clean project scope along with the ongoing topics of market requirements, quality, lead time, and cost targets.Applying for this role is straight forward Scroll down and click on Apply to be considered for this position. The primary objectives for the Engineering Manager, Standard Solutions is to develop an execution team and processes that can deliver high cadence standard solutions with shorter lead times for an attractive market value while continuously delivering a top-of-the-line product. Position Responsibilities:Supervises, directs, and coordinates the execution team (Principal Engineer, System Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, and Mechanical System Designers) concerned with the Fast Track and standard product offerings.Articulates an executable strategy for hiring, training, managing, and retaining top-caliber engineering talent. Develops and executes a department onboarding program for new employees.Triages projects and resources together with Custom Solution leadership.Develop and document the Fast Track processes.Collaborates with Product Directors on improving customer satisfaction. This includes but is not limited to product cost, lead time, product quality, environmental requirements, and customer specifications.Provide input to Product Directors regarding product maintenance, cost, and product roadmap.Collaborates intensely with Product Engineers and Principal Engineers on standardizing existing custom products for better process flow and simplified engineering solutions.Trains or contributes to training classes promoting the process of Fast Track for standardized products/assemblies internally through JLS-AcademyEnsures Fast Track projects remain on task by coordinating and participating in regular meetings and ensuring project milestones are on task and responsible parties are assigned.Leverages Principal engineers on technical issues in coordination with other engineering teams.Seeks input from all involved parties for lessons learned on Fast Track projects. Develop and implement plans of continuous improvements to ensure better performance on future projects.Participates in customer meetings as needed to ensure successful outcomes of the project.Supports testing of new standard products/assemblies in-house and external· Represents the executing part of standard equipment in reviews to ensure that Fast Track requirements and goals are met.Participate in establishing an ERP configurator which will allow us to streamline the ordering process.Supports and serves as a resource to application engineers using standard products/assemblies.· Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and organization.Skills and Experience· Excellent organizational and leadership skills.· Demonstrated experience leading an engineering department.· Demonstrated experience with change management and continuous improvement projects.· Demonstrates ability to craft and document processes in collaboration with other departments.· Strong decision-making skills and results-driven approach.· Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication.· Proficient in MS Office.· Demonstrates high-level mechanical engineering skills standardizing products in an automation environment.· Demonstrates a good understanding of electrical design and industrial software functionality.· Knowledge in 3D and 2D CAD required.· Understands the production process of standards including batch build, inventory management, and production planning.· Knowledgeable with ERP software and experience deploying product configuration capabilities. · Knowledge of hygienic design a plus.· Knowledge of food automation a plus.· Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.Qualifications4-year college degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3 years of relevant management experienceHas successfully managed an engineering team delivering standard equipment.Has successfully participated in developing processes and standard products/assemblies.Experience managing teams of up to 5 individuals.Strong management skills including candidate interviewing, selection, and career development.Ability to travel up to 15% to support business activities.Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
