DescriptionMake your application after reading the following skill and qualification requirements for this position.About ECF Engineering ConsultantsECF Engineering Consultants is a full-service engineering firm that specializes in providing technical solution services to the Energy Markets, as well as public and private sectors, requiring electrical and mechanical engineering support.We serve those entities on an array of projects, offering consultation on technology utilization, design solutions for electrical and mechanical systems, public health systems, and equipment procurement and construction phase services.Description:Perform a senior role in the substation design, preparation of specifications, administration functions, or field engineering related to assigned engineering projects under the supervision of the incumbent's immediate supervisor or other designated professional engineer. The incumbent must be competent to operate various power system design software tools required for performing the design and engineering tasks associated with electrical utilities substation facilities. The incumbent must also possess an understanding of both basic and complex issues associated with substation structures, components, cable and conduit systems, grounding systems, and shielding system methodologies, terminologies, and techniques required in developing construction documentation for the assigned project.Key Responsibilities:Design of engineered systems of the largest size and highest complexity. Activities shall include, but not be limited to the following:Monitor the project construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Act as Resident Engineer on projects of any magnitude. Interpret complex plans and specifications and apply available information to ensure that all project design requirements are satisfied. Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance with all codes. Prepare and/or monitor construction schedules to ensure timely completion of the work. Institute and direct changes to the work when required by differing site conditions. Conduct on-site design or investigation work to ensure the adequacy of methods. Receive, evaluate, and approve contractor's invoices. Receive and inspect equipment to be installed on the project and approve for payment. Prepare reports and feasibility studies for management submission.Serve as a project engineer or project manager on assigned projects.Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping.Be familiar with the Client/Company's drawing system and design and construction standards as well as applicable industry codes and practices.Conduct on-site design or investigation work to ensure the adequacy of the contractor's methods.Position Characteristics:Self-starter and outgoing personality traits.Demonstrated leadership skills.Ability to take direction and act independently.Strong communication and organization skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills.Continually strive for a professional product with a quality & process-driven mindsetCustomer-focused with the ability to adapt to various and fluid customer standards and requirements.Position Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) or in a related field from an accredited university.Professional engineering license required.8 - 10 years of experience in engineering of related projects.Strong understanding and knowledge of industry and national codes and standards including but not limited to NESC and NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE standards and other applicable standards on substation design.Experience with system design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office products is required.Strong analytical and management skillsExperience with ground grid design of substations.Experience with power systems software packages such as Cape, Aspen Oneliner, CDEGS, WingIS, SKM, and ETAP along with other software packages strongly desired.Willingness to travel for site surveys, project scope walks, and meetings.
