About the position:E Ink is seeking an experienced Research Scientist or Engineer to join our team and lead the development of novel drive schemes to support the adoption of E Ink displays in new applications. This role is central to the mission of advancing electrophoretic display technologies by deepening our fundamental understanding of all components of electrophoretic display systems and their interactions. As part of E Ink's Research team, you will also support new display product development through the creation of core test methods and instruments. Activities include creating and executing electro-optical experiments, developing driving schemes for E Ink displays, and performing in-depth analysis of display performance. As a key team member, you will be expected to take on challenging exploratory projects that lead to product improvement and new products in a culture of open review and critical discussion. E Ink maintains a lean team where each member has strong visibility and responsibility to meet company goals. Key ResponsibilitiesExpand fundamental understanding of electrophoretic display systems, focusing on the interplay of driving schemes and materialsCollaborate across teams to develop new driving schemes for novel device applicationsDevelop new electro-optical tests and instruments, including designing new instruments and building, maintaining and trouble shooting themPerform statistical analysis and build computational physics models to understand electro-optical phenomena and to study behavior of display materialsCreate and execute electro-optical experiments to characterize display performanceInvestigate root causes of observed display phenomena, including data mining and full systems analysisDevelop plans to achieve technical goals and to align them with corporate prioritiesCreate and document intellectual propertyQualificationsM.S. degree in Electrical Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Math or a related field plus four to nine years of industrial experience, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Math or related field plus two to five years of industrial experienceExperience analyzing complex systems using advanced mathematical methods for solving practical problemsExperience with soft materials such as polymers and colloids; familiarity with their electrical properties is a plusProficiency with electronic devices and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generatorsExpertise in one or more of the following or related areas: optimization methods, hardware and electronics, machine learning tools, computational physics, and signals and systemsStrong problem-solving skills, with a track record of innovative solutions in hardware and software developmentSelf-directed, motivated, and hands-on personalityExcellent teamwork, communication, and strategic development skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentExperience working collaboratively with diverse teamsBenefits:Competitive total compensation packageMedical, dental and vision on 1st dayCompany 401K match20 PTO daysGenerous sick leave policyCasual day to day work environmentHybridflexible work environment (for some positions)E Ink is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
