Job Description:

Purpose of the position:The Engineering Laboratory Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting small-sized prototype instruments and devices (e.g., accelerometers or pressure transducers). This role is pivotal in facilitating the transition of new products from the prototype phase to the production environment. Reporting to the Research and Development Services department, the individual closely collaborates with engineering, production, and quality teams.Main TasksAssembles prototype sensors, instruments andor systems according to instructions from engineering.Conducts qualification testing of products and creates reports.Provides feedbackrecommendations on new product design and assembly.Supports manufacturing engineering in the transition of the product into production (e.g., for the design of fixtures or procedures)Maintains metrology (e.g., calibrations) for the Engineering Lab.Supports production during peak demands.Participates in continuous improvement by proposing new equipment, processes, training, etc. for the Engineering LabPerform other duties as assigned.Requirements Profile:High School Diploma required; Associates degree in a technical field; or equivalent education, training, and experience.Minimum 3 years' experience in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of measurement instruments and electronic devices.Basic understanding of the operation of electrical circuits and components.Ability to use and working knowledge of various test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.Proficiency in word and excel.Detail orientedPiezo-electric piezo-resistive experience is a plus.Experience with Accelerometers andor Pressure transducers a plus.Ability to read schematics and mechanical assembly drawings, and product definitions.Good communication skills.Strong critical problem-solving skills.Experience in problem identification and corrective action.Ability to interact with other functional departments.Physical Demands: The role necessitates the capacity to spend prolonged periods either seated at a desk or stationed at a workbench, utilizing a microscope extensively. Approximately 10% of the workday may involve alternating between sitting and standing. Moreover, intricate parts will be handled manually, requiring manual dexterity for approximately 50% of the workday.
