Job Description:

A leading scholarly publisher seeks a full-time senior editor to manage the publication process of its magazine focusing on human-computer interaction (HCI) and interaction design (IxD). The ideal candidate will be an experienced, tech-savvy editor familiar with all stages of print and online publishing, from editing articles to managing an art department, final page approval, and posting articles online. Candidates with experience in the technology andor scholarly publishing worlds preferred. Must be able work under deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail. Key responsibilities include: Shepherding articles through the print and online publication processes. Managing a copy editor and team of designers to meet editorial deadlines. Developing visual concepts for cover and article layouts. Supporting volunteer editors in chief to shape the magazine according to their editorial vision. Working with authors to ensure that all materials are submitted in a timely fashion and in accordance with submission guidelines. Editing and posting blogs and other website content as needed. Strong candidates will have at least 10 years' experience working at a print magazine focusing on design or computer science. Bachelor's degree required, ideally in journalism, humanities, or social science. Knowledge of computer science and HCIIxD terminology a plus, as is experience working in a scholarly publishing environment.  In this hybrid position, candidates will be required to work onsite three days a week in our New York City headquarters. Salary commensurate with experience $100K -$115K.
