Associate Engineer - Transmission (Central engineering)Contract-to-HireNew York, NY (Hybrid)35-40 Brooksource's large EnergyUtilities client, Con Edison, is looking to bring on an Associate Engineer to support the Protection & Controls Asset Management & Strategy team. This team is responsible for all assets in substations including protective relay devices. This individual will be responsible for administering the PSS CAPE software that model's ConEd's Power System. Primary Responsibilities:Collaborate with software vendors and consultants to develop, update, and maintain Con Edison's Power System Model (PSS® CAPE).Establish procedures and standards for Power System Model maintenance, working closely with all stakeholders.Develop processes for updating the Power System Model to ensure accuracy and compliance.Align Power System Model (PSS® CAPE) with NERC PRC standards to meet company compliance goals.Utilize Con Edison's Power System Model and Protection and Control Systems data to identify equipment upgrade needs efficiently.Support the enhancement of Con Edison's Protection and Control system through strategy implementation and process improvement.Provide technical oversight and review for consultants working on department projects.Collaborate with end-users to improve and maintain the Power System Model's accuracy.Conduct short circuit analysis studies and develop standardized methods.Required Experience:Education: bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.Understanding of Power System Modeling, including impedance calculations, mutual coupling, transformer test reports, etc.Problem-solving skills related to power system modeling and short circuit analysis.Technical aptitude and willingness to learn.Attention to detail and adherence to processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).Ability to write specifications, coordinate engineering projects, and communicate effectively. Preferred Experience:Experience with PSS® CAPE.Familiarity with relay vendor configuration files (e.g., .rdb, .urs, .pcmp).Scripting experience in languages like Java, Python, C++, etc.Working knowledge of relay protection systems.
