Day-To-Day * Provides nursing care to people with intellectual and development disabilities in a range of health, welfare and community settings. * Provides clinical supervision for the LVNs working with the consumers. * May come in to check the client at times of illness or injury and serves as the primary On-Call nurse 24 hours per day7 days per week for the DFW IDD Program and must be available to provide nursing consultation andor treatment of minor illnesses or injuries and render nursing assistance in medical emergencies. * Attends meetings with the clients and guardians to discuss the client's health, mental and otherwise, and contacts the doctor with concerns. * Talks directly to management and program coordinator about any medical services that need to be done and participates in the initial admission evaluation and treatment plan designed for each client admitted to the program. * Performs periodic medication administration review. * Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team providing general health counseling, review of medical procedures, medication and medical options with client and family. * Provides appropriate in-service training to direct support staff in basic health care and hygiene skills and helps family and clients with coordination of medical appointments. * Conducts in-service training and supervises employees as it relates to the medical care of the client. * Makes appropriate entries in nursing notes relating to individual client care and reviews medication administration instructions with the family, staff and client. * Visits homes as deemed necessary per Individual Treatment Plan to monitor general medical status of residents. Qualifications * Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and registration and license (RN) to practice nursing in the state of Texas and one year of experience during the last 36 months. * Experience in Home Health or Public Health and IntellectualDevelopmental Disabilities desired. * Valid Texas Drivers' License, clear MVR and ability to be insured.
