RN-Staff Nurse NeurologyGrade: N03 (Union rates based on years of experience) Summary: The RN-StaffClinical Nurse, in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Department of Neurology, will assist in delivering high-quality, efficient medical care to an adult patient population in the ALS-Neuromuscular Program in an outpatient setting. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies and ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations. Essential Functions: Responsibilities include: providing andor coordinating timely direct and indirect patient care services in a multidisciplinary setting; conducting comprehensive nursing assessments; obtaining patient history and vital signs; administering injections, blood draws, IVs and medications; maintaining records of vital statistics, and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system; appropriately fieldingtriaging patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, changes in condition etc.; providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care; educating and counseling patients and families; keeping assigned patient logs up to date including infusions; and obtaining required pre-cert or prior authorization to assure the timely approvals of patients complex treatments and drugs. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate with the RN-Clinical Research Nurse to facilitate the recruitment, screening and enrollment of patients for clinical trials. Required Skills and Abilities: * Demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and nursing competence. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Demonstrated ability to use an electronic medical record system. * Proven organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail. * Ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS Office. Preferred: * Bachelor's degree in Nursing. * Experience working with patients with neurological or related disorders. This position requires a background check.
