The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA) may function as a first or second assistant as directed according to hospital policy. In addition to intraoperative duites, the CSTFA also performs preoperative and post operative duties to better facilitate patient care. The CSTFA performs these functions during the procedure under the direction and supervision of the surgeon/physician and in accordance with hospital policy, appropriate laws and regulations. When not activiely assisting the surgeon/physician, may assist in rendering patient care at the direction of the Surgical Assistance Manager which may include hospital zone based patient care procedures. Essential Functions: Technical Assistance Supports the O.R. team with preparation for procedure start, perioperatively and the conclusion of assisting duties. Tasks: 1. Supports OR team in preparation for case start, during surgical interventions, procedures and upon conclusion of OR assisting duties. 2. Introduces self to the patient and answers any questions that may arise or directs questions to the licensed personnel who may be able to provide answers. 3. Assists the OR team in setting up the operating room for surgical procedures, collaborates with the surgical team in selecting the appropriate equipment Educational Requirements: Formal working knowledge of 1-3 years of experience; Associate's degree
