OverviewNOTE: Housing is provided for students from our partner schools (CIM Programs)Summary:The Quality Control Intern performs daily activities and assist team with any tasks provided.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Quality Control Analysis: Observe a Quality Control Technician performing daily activities and assist as level of understanding allows Learn daily lab and testing procedures Familiarize with the testing equipment, maintenance, and calibration Records strength results and enters test results into QC software Performs compressive strength testing on hardened test cylinders at the QC lab Performs tests on plastic/fresh concrete at the ready-mix plant, including slump, air, temperature, density, and molding test cylindersEmployee Relations: Observe jobsite field operations and understand the role plant Quality Control plays Spend time in the dispatch office to realize the level of communication needed to successfully ship and test concreteGlobal Responsibilities: Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needsQualifications:Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications: High School Diploma or enrolled in education program required - GPA of 3.0 preferred Attend/pass training courses to become certified to perform concrete tests (ACI Field Tech, IDOT Level I, and Aggregate 3 Day) Valid driver's license requiredExperience: Experience in related field preferredSkills/Abilities: Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills Able to operate a smart phone/device Proficient in Microsoft Office SuiteWorking Conditions: Operation within a fast-paced environment Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions Noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants and laboratories Must be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure Local travel requiredPhysical Requirements: Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Must be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground while managing concrete delivery onsite Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Must be able to frequently bend in order to obtain samples from stockpiles or ground, climb ladders with buckets ofadmixtures, and push wheelbarrows of concrete Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards and jobsites as necessary Lift/Carry up to 55 pounds frequentlyNOTE: Housing is provided for students from our partner schools (CIM Programs)Ozinga is an equal opportunity employer.
