MISSION / SUMMARY:The Electrical & Instrumentation Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing technical guidance for operating units and equipment within the mill. This role maintains and improves the safety, environmental standards, overall reliability for the electrical and instrumentation systems within the mill. The Electrical & Instrumentation Reliability Engineer develops strategies to manage mill assets at peak performance, optimize lifetime return on investment, mitigate reliability risk, and support capital improvements in support of long-term sustainable performance. Field supervision and inspection of work. Project management and office administrative duties will be required in support of the functional area of assignment. Incumbents are expected to exercise initiative and independence in implementing departmental policies, developing effective work systems, and solving operational problems.JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.Ensures that proper safety practices are followed.Responsible to communicate with operations for efficient preventive maintenance and routine job planning, work scheduling and execution to optimize equipment. Use engineering principles to accurately scope jobs that will increase overall equipment reliability.Investigate the feasibility of redesigning systems where we are having reoccurring reliability problems.Assist/Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts by helping implement corrective actions that are needed to prevent reoccurrence of equipment failures.Responds to emergencies as requested; coordinates activities with others; directs the work and utilization of resources to effect repair.Will be required to perform rotating weekend maintenance on-call duty for the entire mill as part of the key management team.Follow all company policies in procuring parts for required work.Work with Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance supervisors to gain concurrence on plan details (manpower, tools, special consideration, etc.).Utilize predictive data (thermography, oil analysis, flow scan, etc.) to set priority for outage work.Prior to outage day, coordinate clearly with maintenance supervisors and technicians the job plans, time estimates, resource requirements, any safety hazards present, communicate any need for special permits.Assure proper level of feedback from maintenance supervisors and technicians on completed jobs.Ownership and ability to delegate RCFA action items that are needed to prevent reoccurring equipment failures.Prepares records related to the work performed and materials and supplies used.Experience in recovery boiler maintenance.BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:BS degree with 3 years related E&I industrial maintenance/reliability experience or 7 years E&I related industrial maintenance/reliability experience with a high school diploma.EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:BS degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.SPECIFIC SKILLS:Working knowledge of Microsoft Office project software and a CMMS system preferably SAP.Utilize SAP for the creation of task lists to assist in job planning.Candor/Integrity; Assertive Leadership skills; Sense of Urgency; People skills including coaching, teaching, managing, and confronting; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Organized work practices and attention to detail; Self-discipline and the willingness to support colleagues unselfishly.Strong understanding of networked drive systems. (Low and Medium AC drives and DC drives)Working knowledge of DC, induction, and synchronous motors.Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ability to read, modify, and create new loop sheets/motor elementaries.Understanding of single line drawings and the ability to use them to create/implement EI Reliability lockouts for emergency and planned lockouts.Working knowledge of PLC's and Logic SystemsWorking knowledge of general instrumentation and control valves.Working knowledge of electric motor controls and design. (i.e. starters, motors, control strategies, cable sizing, etc.) (480V and Medium Voltage, up to 5kV)Schedule Demands:schedule is an 8-10-hour M-F assignment, however, the employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends, and be punctual while doing so.weekend-duty coverage for the maintenance department.overnight travel includes flying, driving, riding, or by rail (up to 25%).Graphic Packaging is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
