Technical Accounting & Reporting SpecialistIn this role, you will have the opportunity to apply and advance your knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and assessing transactions in areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock plan administration, purchase accounting, and more. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support Varex's business objectives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead in driving the approach to maintain ASC 606 and ASC 842 compliance while also enabling our sales organization to grow sales revenueEnsure compliance with USGAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, and corporate policy and proceduresProvide technical accounting expertise and leadership on the treatment of various accounting issuesAssess risk and driving the creation of policies and procedures to provide guidance and ensure revenue complianceResponsible for various aspects of the month-end close process ensuring that all deadlines and cutoffs are adhered toAssist with the preparation of periodic financial reporting (e.g. 10-Q and 10-K)Work cross-functionally with other groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions.Work with international revenue teams to understand and document differences between the local team and the international team processesImplement and operate systems around lease accountingPrimary point of contact with external auditors regarding revenue recognition and lease-related mattersApply knowledge of internal controls over the revenue accounting process to ensure compliance with SOXAssist in the design of controls to the extent existing control framework lacks guidance andor is no longer relevant and propose recommendationsInterface with Internal Audit to assist in the remediation processRequired Skills and Knowledge:3+ years of relevant experience with emphasis in technical accountingStrong functional knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory requirements, with SEC experience, preferredB.S.
