Overview:Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 49 year old multi-service not-for-profitorganization based on the settlement house model and located in the Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 6,500 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures.Job Summary:Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Director will ensure that all human resources (HR)operations are carried on smoothly and effectively including but not limited to employee & unionrelations, organizational professional development, compliance & human resources best practices. You will be responsible for developing HR strategies and providing sound advice to senior management on all related subjects and coaching the HR team on HR disciplines.Essential Responsibilities OverviewSupervisory Responsibilities:● Acts as coach and mentor to all employees in the HR department.● Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations to HR Staff● Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy &collective bargaining agreement.Employee & Union Relations:● Resolve workplace conflicts when issues arise among employees or between employees andmanagers to promote a healthy work environment.● Provide advice and guidance to management as needed during labor relations contractnegotiations, including drafting proposals and facilitating meetings with union representatives● Oversee collective bargaining procedures, including mitigating grievances (managing when theydo arise), leading Parent Policy presentations and ensuring full agency compliance.● Communicate effectively with managers, executives and union representatives daily to createpositive working environment, address worker grievances and verify compliance withcontractual protocols● Assist program during contract and funding audits, inspections and engagement. Troubleshootand resolve issues quickly and permanently● Act as trusted advisor to directors, managers and supervisors to ensure that all staff areembodying the mission and values of pliance:● Oversee all compliance efforts in the HR Department which includes but is not limited toAnnual reporting (EEO-1, OSHA, Benefits, COBRA, etc.), internal HR audits, federal auditsand fiscal audits.● Oversee all activities relating to the administration and maintenance of payroll and employeebenefits programs.● Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and statelawsregulations affecting human resource management. Identify trends that could affectorganizational objectives andor operational resources. Interpret appropriate laws and policiesand advise management, employees and retirees accordingly. Ensure staff, supervisors andagencies comply with protections for employees including Paid Family Leave, FMLA and other.● Oversee the daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, includingrecruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration,affirmative actionEEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employeerelations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of theorganization.● Work in conjunction with the CEO to review and update the Employee Handbook annually andpresent it to the Board of Directors for approval. Ensure that all updates, revisions andaddendums are processed in a timely manner.● Report out on a monthly basis all employees that are on a leave of absence to CEOFiscal toensure that all reimbursements are tracked and received in a timely manner.Professional Development:● Design and implement professional development programs throughout the agency in conjunction with the Human Resources Generalist.● Oversee compliance on performance reviews and ensure learnings with the Leadership Team.Qualifications:● Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, Human Resources,SHRM-CP Certification or related field equivalent experience● 5-7 years of professional experience in human resources Results-driven, action-orientedworking style with attention to detail and experience reporting data● Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred● Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well in a fast-paced, deadline-drivenenvironment.● Ability to work well with a variety of people in supervisory role● Excellent relationship building skills● Experience with standard software tools (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint)● Excellent written and verbal communication skills● Passion aligning with KHCC's mission and valuesPhysical Demands: ● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit;handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly,run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach withhands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Theemployee must regularly lift andor move up to 10 pounds.
